Beach at Hydeaway Bay

What you can expect

A more secluded option for those looking for an idyllic beachfront environment in the Whitsundays away from Airlie beach's hustle and bustle, Hydeaway Bay Beach has long been a popular wedding spot in the region due to its pristine sands and relative lack of crowds. Hydeaway Bay Beach stretches for around 1.5km in front of Hydeaway Bay itself, and offers a wonderful spot either for a stroll or a refreshing dip. Relaxing on the sands here offers great views across the water to Gloucester Island which lies just a couple of kilometres offshore, and can be reached via boat from the nearby Dingo Beach. Hydeaway Bay Beach is shaded by trees which provides relief on hot days, while nearby are two humble resorts which are equipped with great restaurants for those looking to make a day of it. Getting to Hydeaway Bay from Airlie Beach involves around a 45 minute drive, with a small portion of the drive being on dirt road to access. Bear in mind that it is sometimes crowded on weekends as many Airlie Beach locals flock to the beach to get out of town for a while.
