Government Gardens

What you can expect

An historic attraction in close proximity to downtown Rotorua, the Government Gardens are the perfect place to relax while you spend some time in Rotorua. This land has strong cultural importance to the local Māori people as it was once the battle field for many significant fights. Home to a perfectly manicured garden, elaborate bath house, a museum and more. The Blue Baths are one of New Zealand's most loved buildings and still has the geothermal hot pools open to the public. Opened in 1931, the Elizabeth Tudor style building has been full restored to reflect its original look. The gardens also house Rotorua Museum, which is a must for anyone interested in learning about the history of the region and its rich Maori culture. The museum features a range of exhibitions, galleries and cinematic experiences all of which are constantly changing meaning return visitors won't be disappointed. You can easily spend the whole day exploring all of the attractions housed in Government Gardens.
