What you can expect

Reserved for hikers looking for a challenge, the Gertrude Valley Walk offers spectacular views of Milford Sound and its surrounds. The journey starts from Milford Road for a pleasant journey before inclining to a number of steep climbs before reaching the top. The track is 7 kilometres one way with the return journey following the same trail so you can expect to spend around four to six hours completing this expert level tramp. Pack yourself some lunch to enjoy once you've reached the top of the route as you look over the beautiful Fiordland region.
