St James Cycle Trail

What you can expect

Stretching over 64 kilometres, the St James Trail ventures through the scenic and luscious St James Conservation Area (formerly St James Station). Travelling through a mixed terrain of alpine meadows, forest and grassy river flats and past rives and high country lakes with a background of towering mountains, this is one of NZ's Great Rides you don't want to miss. A challenging and rewarding journey, the St James Cycle Trail is a great option for experienced cyclists and adventurers. If you're looking to explore the beauty of the area on bike but aren't equipped to complete the full 64 kilometre trail, you can go on an adventure along Homestead Run, a family-friendly ride opened in 2013. This trail will take you on a journey from the end of the St James Homestead around for a 15 kilometre loop. If you're looking to take on the St James Cycle Trail, make sure you are fully prepared and ready for all different types of weather that may hit.
