High Court of Australia

The highest court in Australia, the High Court, is one of Canberra’s most popular tourist attractions. The building, standing at forty metres tall and constructed mainly of concrete and glass, sits on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in the Parliamentary Zone. With four main elements, the High Court consists of a public hall, an administration wing, the Justices’ chambers and three courtrooms – the main focus of the building’s activities. Members of the public are welcome to visit the High Court, however should the court be in sitting you are requested to abide by court etiquette. Viewing a court sitting is a surreal experience and if possible is something you should definitely try and visit. If this isn’t possible, simply visiting the courtroom is still a great experience. Surrounded by stunning parkland, making a day out of a visit to the High Court of Australia is easy!
