What you can expect

A visit to Hervey Bay’s historic, well-known Urangan Pier is a must-see when in the area. One of the longest piers in Australia, Urangan stretches out into the water for almost one kilometre. Walk along the beautiful pier for stunning views of the Hervey Bay area and spot schools of fish gathering near the pier. Depending on the time of year you visit you might be luck enough to to see some playful dolphins splashing in the water just metres from the pier. Fishing off the Pier is a popular activity for all ages to enjoy with the chance to catch some whiting. If you’d rather relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery, pack a picnic or buy some fish and chips to enjoy on the beach or in the parkland. The precinct surrounding the pier is a great way to spend your time, browse the boutique shops or dine in the various restaurants in the area. Just off the pier lies Pier Park with a great walk and bike way along the former rail line connecting the Pier to Pialba’s CBD. Waterspouts are also enjoyed in the water next to the pier, windsurfers, kite surfers and surfers are commonly found riding the waves depending on the conditions.
