Climb aboard New Zealand's only mountain railway for a scenic 75-minute adventure. This hand-built railway will take you through the native forest at Coromandel's iconic Driving Creek. You will ride across 10 bridges, through three tunnels, and past endless scenic views. Along the way, your friendly guide shares stories of the land's transformation from a kauri-logged site to a thriving sanctuary for native wildlife.
This family-friendly tour offers you spectacular views, including the EyeFull Tower, from which you will see the Hauraki Gulf and its stunning surrounding islands. The knowledgeable guide and an interpretation handout enhance your understanding of this remarkable place. - The experience is 75 minutes in duration.
- This experience is located at 380 Driving Creek Road, Coromandel, Waikato 3506.
- Warm and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions is recommended.
- A light jacket or raincoat is also good in case the weather changes.
- We do also offer free to use high-quality ponchos to keep your dry and warm if the weather is bad.
- You can bring your own snacks and drinks, but please be mindful of the environment and take all rubbish with you.
- Our railway operates in almost all weather conditions, rain or shine, the journey is equally magical.
- Traversing through lush regenerating forest, you'll be sheltered for much of the ride.
- We also offer free to use ponchos to ensure you stay dry during your trip.
- Tours accommodate up to 32 guests, or up to 64 with prior notice
- Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 17 or over
- Children under four must be advised at the time of booking
- Non-walking children under two must be secured in a front harness, which can be provided
- The experience is wheelchair accessible
- Change your booking up to 14 days before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 14 days of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience
