In the stunning studio, experience the magic of the craft for yourself and step inside the jade carving studio where you will witness the creativity and skill of local artists and immerse yourself in the process from start to finish. Renowned New Zealand artists Tamaora Walker and Akapita Scally will spend one-on-one time with you, sharing their knowledge and expertise, and guide you through the intricate process of designing, cutting, carving, sanding, and polishing. Uncover the traditional uses and values of the stone before selecting your very own piece of New Zealand jade from a variety of shapes and sizes and learn how to string it into a necklace to treasure forever.

What you need to know
- You will begin your tour in the Mountain Jade Rotorua educational space, where you will learn the history and significance of New Zealand pounamu
- You will then be invited into the carving studio to meet local artists and see a jade carving demonstration
- Afterwards, you will select your own piece of pounamu to string into a necklace
- This 40-minute experience includes a visit to our jade carving studio, where you will spend exclusive time with local artists and see a live jade carving demonstration.
- You will get to select a piece of New Zealand jade from a variety of shapes and sizes to string into a necklace.
- Operates 7 days a week at 10am
- Tours last 40 minutes.
- Tours do not operate on Christmas Day, Boxing Day & Public Holidays, or from the 22nd Dec 2023 to 7th Jan 2024.

- Your camera
- The machinery used in the live jade carving demonstration can be loud and high-pitched. People with sensitive hearing may be affected. Disposable earplugs are provided
- Please arrive at our carving studio 5 minutes prior to your tour departure time.
- The is an indoor experience and not affected by the weather
- This experience is stroller and pram friendly
- Pre-booking is recommended as spaces are limited
- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience.
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience.
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience.
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience
