What you can expect

Discover one of New Zealand’s most special wildlife encounters on this 90-minute guided yellow-eyed penguin tour on the Otago Peninsula. You’ll start in a theatre-style setting to learn about the endangered hoiho and the conservation work helping protect them, setting the scene for what you’re about to see.

Next, you’ll visit the rehabilitation centre when penguins are present, giving you the chance to view yellow-eyed penguins and other species up close. From there, hop on a short bus ride into the reserve and join a guided nature walk of around 2km through native landscapes. Keep your eyes open for local birdlife, plus the possibility of spotting little penguins, fur seals and sea lions along the way. It’s an easy, well-paced tour that combines education, wildlife viewing and beautiful Otago scenery.
