What you can expect
Experience the thrill of winter whitewater kayaking, when the Yarra River transforms into a fast-flowing playground of waves and rapids. Your adventure begins just outside Melbourne, where you’ll meet your guides and suit up in thermals and protective winter gear to keep you warm on the water. After a safety briefing and paddling intro, you’ll hop into your two-person inflatable kayak and get ready to take on the river.
Set off and paddle through rolling waves, swirling currents, and exhilarating rapids that will keep your heart racing from start to finish. Your instructors will guide you along the way, offering tips to help you build confidence as you tackle river-wide holes and pushy whitewater. Along the journey, you’ll be surrounded by lush valley bushland and misty winter scenery. This winter whitewater experience is perfect for friends, couples, and outdoor lovers looking to embrace the cold and chase some adrenaline.

- Whitewater kayaking adventure
- Safety briefing and fully guided by expert instructors
- All equipment, including a life vest, a helmet, and a kayak
- Helmets have functionality to mount a GoPro
- Shuttle bus back to your car
- All park fees
- This experience is approximately three hours in duration.
- This experience departs from the Lower Homestead Road Car Park, Wonga Park, VIC 3115.
- Closed-toe footwear
- Water bottle and sunscreen
- Clothes you don’t mind getting wet
- Wear a few layers of clothing in cooler months
- Towel and a full change of clothing, including footwear
- Minimum age is 10 years old
- Maximum weight limit is 110kg
- Not suitable for pregnant women
- Minimum of six and maximum of 12 participants
- Participants must be able to swim at least 10 metres
- Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult
- There are no changing facilities or toilets at the departure location
- You will be required to carry the kayak a short distance from the vehicle to the river
- The rapids are bigger and faster in the winter months as the river is on average one metre higher
- One child with every paying adult. Adults with more than one child will be charged at the adult rate
- In extreme weather conditions the tour may be cancelled if safety is a concern, you will be contacted by the provider and rescheduled
- Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- $15 fee applies
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
