What you can expect
An exhilarating three-hour adventure on the West Coast awaits you, featuring a two-hour and 15-minute Waiatoto River jet boat ride with stops along the way. Kick off this journey into the Haast backcountry by jumping into a jet boat safari, travelling past beautiful scenery as you head up the river into the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage area. Learn as you go about the natural history of the surrounding land and hear captivating stories of the challenging wilderness. Stop by for a visit to a kiwi sanctuary where you'll get to witness these incredible creatures and find out more about the current conservation efforts that work to protect the iconic species.
Stretch your legs on a walk into the ancient beech forest that runs along the river. Then, you'll speed downriver towards the Tasman Sea and the Whitebait Fishery grounds, where you'll keep an eye out for the native birdlife. Families and people of all ages can enjoy this journey to explore the Southern Alps with a removable roof that allows you to experience the majestic landscape and scenery even on a rainy day.
