Soar over the Yarra Valley on a tandem skydive from Lilydale Airport in Yering, Melbourne's closest drop zone and just 45 minutes from the CBD. Your day starts with a clear safety briefing before your experienced instructor fits your gear and you board the aircraft for the climb to 15,000ft, watching vineyards, farmland and the Dandenong and Yarra Ranges spread out below. When the door opens you jump with your instructor and fall for up to 60 seconds, then the parachute deploys at 5,000ft and the pace changes completely.
Five to seven quiet minutes under the canopy give you time to pick out cellar doors, paddocks and ridgelines before a gentle landing back on the airfield. All equipment and the APF levy are included, and spectators are welcome to watch from the ground. Allow up to four hours for the visit, and dress warm because it is colder up there than it is on the ground.
