What you can expect
Join a half day scuba dive tour from the Gold Coast to Cook Island! Come along and discover the marine reserve with the chance to scuba dive alongside incredible marine life including Green Sea Turtles. The protected area is only 15 minutes from Tweed Heads and is an underwater playground just waiting to be explored.
Experienced instructors will take you out on the ‘Ocean Adventurer’ and supply you with professional snorkelling and diving gear for the underwater adventure. What you need to know
- One guided introductory ocean scuba dive
- Dedicated scuba instructor, typically 1:1 and maximum two participants per instructor
- Safety briefing, equipment instruction and basic in-water skills
- Full scuba equipment hire
- Return boat transfers between Tweed Heads and Cook Island
- Return transport from Gold Coast Dive Centre to the Tweed Heads launch site
- The guided dive is normally approximately 30–45 minutes, depending on conditions and individual air consumption
- Cook Island is approximately 20 minutes from the launch site by boat
- Check-in and departure times vary according to tides and ocean conditions
- Your confirmed check-in time will be provided before the activity
- Allow approximately 5–7 hours, including check-in, preparation, transfers and diving
- Duration varies with marine conditions and whether the vessel is shared with certified divers
- Arrive at the meeting time shown on your booking confirmation
- This experience takes place at Cook Island Aquatic Reserve, off Fingal Head in northern New South Wales.
- Check-in is at Gold Coast Dive Centre, 2/54-56 Paradise Ave, Miami QLD 4220. Return transport to the Tweed Heads launch site and boat transfers to Cook Island are included. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
- Wear swimwear underneath comfortable clothing.
- Bring a towel, sunscreen, hat, reusable water bottle and warm clothing for after the dive.
- Rain alone does not normally result in cancellation.
- Departures depend on safe boating and diving conditions, including wind, swell, tides, currents and visibility.
- Activities may be modified, postponed or cancelled for guest and crew safety.
- We will contact you if your booking is affected.
- Not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
- Participants must be able to board the vessel and enter and exit the water independently, and be confident swimming in open water.
- This offshore experience includes a river bar crossing.
- Check your confirmation email for arrival details, SSI registration instructions and required paperwork. Complete all forms before arrival.
- Trip updates are sent by email and urgent notifications by SMS. Provide accurate contact details and check your messages before departure.

- Motion sickness medication is not provided; please prepare in advance. Wildlife encounters cannot be guaranteed.
- No previous scuba diving experience is required
- Participants must be comfortable swimming in open water and able to understand and follow instructor directions
- Complete the required introductory in-water skills before continuing with the dive
- Maximum dive depth is 5 metres
- Complete the required medical declaration and digital waiver before participation
- For participants under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the required forms.
- The minimum age is 12 years.
- This experience is not suitable for pregnant guests.
- Certain medical conditions may require written clearance from a diving medical practitioner before participation.
- The trip takes place in the open ocean and includes a river bar crossing.
- Guests with significant back or neck injuries should contact Gold Coast Dive Centre before booking.
- Those prone to severe motion sickness should carefully consider suitability.
- The vessel is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
- More than 48 hours before the activity: Rescheduling is available at no charge, subject to availability
- Within 48 hours, late arrivals and no-shows: The booking is forfeited and is not eligible for a refund or rebooking
- If the operator cancels because of unsafe conditions, customers will be offered an alternative date or the remedy applicable under their booking terms
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience
