The Roundhouse

Western Australia's oldest standing public building, the Round House in Fremantle is perched above Bathers Beach overlooking the Indian Ocean. A dodecagon shape, the twelve-sided building was originally built as a goal back in 1831 for locals who had broken the law. After transforming into a police lock up, then Water Police accommodations and Fremantle Ports storage facility, the Round House has now become a popular tourist attraction for visitors to Fremantle. An informative experience for all ages to enjoy, the Round House fires a cannon off daily at 1pm, with visitors having the chance to trigger the shot.
