Lake McKenzie

Fraser Island's Lake McKenzie is a popular site with tourists and locals because of its beautiful blue waters and pristine white sand. This ‘perched’ lake isn't fed by streams nor does it flow to the ocean, it is filled with only rainwater and measures up to 1.2 kilometres in length and 930 metres in width. The pure, white silica sand is amazing to look at and walk on. The soft sand works as a filter to the water to give it the beautiful clarity and compliment the blues and greens of the lake. Visitors have the option to camp at Lake McKenzie, making it easier to see the sunrise over the gorgeous lake, a sight that you don’t want to miss.
