What you can expect

One of the most stunning natural attractions in Broome, Roebuck Bay boasts breathtaking colours and views in close proximity to the city centre. No matter what time of the day you visit Roebuck Bay, the views are a must-see. At low tide the milky turquoise waters draw back to showoff the contrasting mud flats, looking as if you could go on an endless walk along the bay. For the cooler months of the year, from March to October, visitors can experience the stunning Staircase to the Moon. this natural phenomenon occurs when a full moon rises over the exposed tidal flats of the bay, the light bounces off the ground to present a staircase effect leading to the moon. This happens approximately two to three days per month during this season. Visitors can go for a swim at Roebuck Bay’s Town Beach; the closest swimming area to town. Various marine life is also commonly spotted from Roebuck Bay including Bottlenose Dolphins, Dugongs and Green Turtles. A great bay for beautiful scenery and marine life spotting, Roebuck Bay is a must-see when visiting Broome.
