What you can expect
Prepare yourself for a warm and welcoming introduction to Maori culture at Te Papa Museum in Wellington. On this one-hour guided tour, you’ll be led by a friendly local host who brings stories to life through special taonga (treasures) and easy-to-follow storytelling. It’s a relaxed, engaging way for kids and adults alike to learn about Maori history, values and traditions - no homework required.
The adventure doesn’t end with the tour. Your visit includes a two-day general admission pass, so you can explore Te Papa at your own pace. Roam the galleries, discover hands-on exhibits and keep the curiosity flowing as you uncover more of Aotearoa New Zealand’s culture and stories together.

- 48-hour general admission to the museum
- Available seven days a week at 1pm
- Museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm
- This experience is one hour in duration.
- This experience takes place at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, located at 55 Cable Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011.
- Tours are only available in English
- Children under five years are free of charge
- All participants require a ticket
- Outdoor and covered parking is available onsite for a fee
- Photography permitted. No flash
- Please keep phones on silent
- Not available on Christmas Day
- Your ticket is valid for 48 hours from the date of visit
- Wheelchairs are available free of charge, subject to availability
- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no-shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience
