What you can expect

A popular swimming hole, scenic walk and lookout Waiau Falls & Kauri Grove Lookout are an ideal destination for day trippers exploring the Coromandel Peninsula. The main highlight for the visit is Waiau Falls which doubles as popular swimming hole in the warmer months. The falls can be admired from the road and allows visitors to explore its surrounds by foot. Further along, the short 500 metre Kauri Grove walking trail will lead you to the most mature kauri stand on the Coromandel Peninsula. The tree itself is actually a ‘siamese’ kauri which means it splits into a fork just above the ground making for an impressive attraction.
