This Cairns attraction is a wildlife park with a difference. Cairns ZOOM offers visitors the opportunity to go for a zipline over the wildlife exhibits or tackle the high ropes course commando-style for a unique view of the birds, crocodiles and wildlife here.

A journey on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is another must-do Cairns experience regardless of whether you are a local or are visiting from out of town. A ticket for the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will take you for a gentle ride on the gondolas high above the rainforest to the quaint village of Kuranda. Along the way, there are a few stops to jump off at each offering stunning vantage points of the expansive forest canopy.

You can easily make a day of it with plenty of time to explore some of Kuranda’s top attractions including the Rainforestation Nature Park, Kuranda Koala Gardens, Birdworld or the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.

It is impossible to visit Far North Queensland without paying a visit to the Great Barrier Reef but with so many options available it may be hard to decide which reef cruise or island tour is best for your family.

Located approximately one hour from Cairns, a ferry can whisk you away to Green Island or Fitzroy Island where fringing reefs offer a safe, snorkelling experience in shallow waters.
