Kids patting staR fish at Aquarium of Western Australia AQWA

The Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA)

Purchase your AQWA tickets to explore 12,000 kilometres of Western Australia’s coastline all without getting your feet wet. This world-class aquarium located at Hillary’s Boat Harbour has a broad range of marine life on display across several exhibits. You might not want to stick around for long if you encounter a shark in the ocean but in the safe harbour of an aquarium, you’ll be utterly mesmerised by the mighty beasts swimming before your eyes.

The ocean’s dangerous predators are on display in the ‘DANGERzone’ with a range of creatures that you may want to avoid in the ocean while the hands-on touch pool has some more child-friendly critters. The Wonderful World of Coral and Glowing Ocean Exhibit are fan favourites too with an explosion of colour and UV light bringing to life the rare and elusive creature of the marine world. A visit to AQWA is our number one thing to do in Perth with kids and we highly recommend pre-purchasing your tickets with special children’s activities coming these school holidays.

Rottnest Fast Ferry heading to Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island Ferry from Hillarys Boat Harbour

In less than an hour, you can be frolicking on secluded beaches and snorkelling turquoise waters with a ticket for the Rottnest Island ferry. The stunning island is one of Australia’s top eco-destination with no cars to be found here. The only way to get around is by bicycle so strap on your helmet and pedal away. With over 63 beaches on the island, you won’t have any trouble social distancing.

Once you have your Rottnest Island ferry tickets and bike hire sorted, the only thing you need to factor in is your food. Pack a picnic and make a pilgrimage to Rottnest Island these Perth school holidays from Hillarys Boat harbour. While the beaches will most likely keep you busy, we can’t forget to mention that the island is the only place on Earth where you’ll find friendly Quokkas and they sure do love the camera. Keep your eye out for these cute creatures. Photos are welcome but do make sure you give them space to roam as they are wild animals.

Child doing shaka while indoor skydiving at iFly Perth

iFLY Indoor Skydiving Perth

One of Australia’s fastest growing sports is indoor skydiving and it’s one the whole family get involved in. Children as young as three years old can have a go copying Superman as they experience the feeling of weightless during the indoor skydiving flight. Just as you would for a real skydive, participants will get all geared up and into appropriate jumpsuits and go through a quick safety briefing before it’s your time to step up to the edge. The only difference… you only have to lean forward into a wind tunnel to experience a free-fall instead of leaping from dizzying heights in the sky.

Tour group boarding Mandurah Pirate Cruise ship in Perth

Mandurah Pirate Cruise

Know a little pirate among you? Then they’ll absolutely love this Mandurah Pirate Cruise. Kids are encouraged to get all dressed up and play captain for a photo behind the pirate wheel. The 45-minute cruise travels through the canals and you might see pods of dolphins but it’s likely that the little ones will be too excited by the thrill of being on a pirate ship to care too much about the bottlenose dolphins darting in and out of the water. The Pirate Cruise is very budget-friendly and is sure to put a big smile on your child’s face.
