What a wonderful evening! The sunset cruise down the Thomson River was beautiful, with plenty of wildlife and some great stories along the way. This was followed by a fantastic camp oven dinner, good old Aussie music and brilliant storytelling. Such a fun and memorable Outback experience and definitely one of our Longreach highlights. Do yourself a favour and just book it you won’t be disappointed!

Cruise the Thomson River as the outback sky turns golden on this relaxed sunset dinner cruise aboard the M.V. Longreach Explorer. Glide past wide open floodplains and keep an eye out for local wildlife while enjoying savoury nibbles, and optional drinks from the licensed onboard bar. Step ashore for an exclusive visit to Sunset Bend and ancient scar trees, where stories of the river and its deep Indigenous heritage come together. Bringing the landscape to life against a stunning outback backdrop.
As night falls, continue the experience under the stars at Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show. Settle in for a hearty two-course camp oven meal served with freshly baked damper and billy tea, then sit back and soak up live entertainment on the river stage. With return coach transfers from your Longreach accommodation included, this is an easy-going, immersive evening that captures the spirit, stories and flavours of the outback in one unforgettable experience.

- April 4 to 14: Selected dates (4, 6, 7, 10, 11), pick up starts from 4.30pm
- April 15 to 30: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, pick up starts from 4.15pm
- May 1 to July 31: Monday, Wednesday to Sunday, pick up starts from 4.00pm
- August 1 to September 13: Monday, Wednesday to Sunday, pick up starts from 4.15pm
- September 14 to 30: Monday, Wednesday to Sunday, pick up starts from 4.30pm
- October 1 to 15: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, pick up starts from 4.45pm

- Participants must be 18 years and over to consume alcohol; photo ID may be required
- This experience includes return coach transfers to and from your Longreach accommodation; please advise on booking

- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Perfect Evening
We enjoyed a wonderful evening on the Thomson River, the Captain gave us lots of interesting information, a perfect sunset and the campfire meal was delicious. The staff made us feel very welcomed. Awesome experience
