Stokes Beach

What you can expect

This hidden beach is considered by man was the gem of Kangaroo Island - secluded from the outside world and outside waves. The perfect location to relax and embrace the beach atmosphere, Stokes Beach is safe for all ages and swimming abilities to enjoy. The swimming bay is protected from the rough ocean swells due to the rock walls surrounding it, making this an ideal swimming hole for young kids or those looking to just wade without the bother of strong crashing waves. Stokes Bay is also a popular destination and those who know about the beach or stumble across the path are treated with its beauty. Reached by a partly hidden path, visitors must manoeuvre around some cave-like rock formations to emerge onto this beautiful, sandy beach. While on the beach you can do as you please; you can wade in the rock pool, walk along the rocks or just relax on the beach. Stokes Bay is a popular camping destination so if you feel like spending more time exploring the area you can. The cafe in the bay area is also a hit with locals and tourists. Though quite busy most of the time, many visitors have raved about the food and advised to prepare for a somewhat lengthy wait. If you’re in the area, a trek to Stokes Bay and more importantly Stokes Beach is a must, the beautiful clear waters, soft white sand and picturesque views make for a wonderful trip.
