Sea World is a marine based theme park on the Gold Coast centrally located at Main Beach. Home to an array of marine life, this theme park gives visitors the unique opportunity to observe and interact with animals they may have only seen previously on their TV screens. See dolphins, sharks, polar bears, penguins, sharks, seals and more here on display in their animal exhibits. Sea World is a perfect choice for the whole family with exciting amusement rides, entertaining animal presentations and performances from your favourite Nickelodeon characters.

Part of what makes Sea World so special is its interactive animal adventures allowing visitors to go behind the scenes to meet, interact and learn all about these curious creatures and their marine environment.

See Australia’s only Polar Bears, go behind the scenes with King and Gentoo Penguins or swim with dolphins (additional costs apply). Children will also love the Nickelodeon Land themed rides, 3D movie theatre and special appearances from Paw Patrol and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and inspiring Dolphin Affinity Presentation.

    Storage

Sea World have coin operated lockers available for hire which range from $10 or $20 depending on the size of locker you need. The lockers are good investment if you are intending to go on the thrill rides such as The Storm Coaster and Jet Rescue Coaster because you will not allowed to bring any loose items with you. Keep some coins handy as the lockers do not accept cash or cards. Please see the change machines or retails store for loose change if needed.

    Sea World Food Outlets

Sea World does not allow food to brought into the park unless you have dietary requirements or are visiting with babies. There are two main locations where food outlets can be found. The first section is at the Sea World Lake when you walk in the front gates with seating overlooking the Jet Stunt Extreme Arena. The following food outlets can be found here:

    Animal Exhibits & Presentations:

    Penguin Encounter

The Penguin Encounter is the first animal exhibit that you will see when you enter the front gates. The multi-level exhibit replicates the sub-zero temperatures and environment of Antarctica for the King and Gentoo penguins and has been designed so you can view the Penguins swimming underwater or from above standing on the ice. The indoor exhibit also houses a learning centre so that you can find out more about these cute marine mammals. This is an exhibit you cannot miss.

    Seal Harbour

You can also watch a fun and entertaining seal show called the Seal Guardians Show at 10.15 and 2.30pm daily in the Seal Theatre. Watch Professor Swells and his team of seals come together to save the Sea World Lab and the oceans from pollution.

Shark Bay and Tropical Reef Lagoon

Make sure you pay a visit to the man made lagoon that mimics the Great Barrier Reef. See sharks, coral reefs, 250 species of tropical fish, rays, turtles and more here in one exhibit. Shark Bay and the Reef Lagoon have two levels; go indoors to see the marine life from the underwater viewing area and watch the sharks, turtles and huge rays circling from above. Shark Bay is your chance to be a fly on the wall to see these apex ocean predators glide past you interact with all the other marine life in this mini ecosystem within Sea World.

    Sea World Entertainment

    Jet Stunt Extreme

This is another feature presentation within Sea World that you MUST see. The Jet Stunt Extreme showcases precision riders performing a series of aerial stunts and tricks on Jet Skis. These athletes are the world champions in extreme jet stunt action sport and you can watch them race each other and perform for you in a freestyle session.

    Animal Adventures:

Sea World offers the incredible opportunity to go behind the scenes to meet and interact with a number of the marine life or shadow a marine trainer to experience what it is like to work at Sea World. These unique animal adventures are not included in your entrance ticket and need to be booked well in advance due to popular demand.

(TIP: Popular animal adventures experiences such as Shark Encounters and Dolphin swims should be booked several weeks in advance, particularly in peak periods to avoid disappointment.)

    Shark Encounters

This is a water based adventure which can be done via snorkelling or scuba diving if you have a dive qualification. Swimmers will be enclosed in a cage to watch these apex predators during a feeding session. The program is 2 hours with 20 minutes in the water. Join the Shark Encounter on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday for two people. The minimum age for shark encounters is 14 years old.

    Amusement Rides:

Sea World is not a park that markets itself based on its rides because its animals are the star attraction of the park. However, you will find a small number of rides here that range from junior rides to very entertaining and impressive thrill rollercoasters.

    Thrill Rides

    Jet Rescue Coaster

The Jet Rescue ride simulates riding a jet ski into the ocean to help a trapped sea lion. The ride seats are essentially jet skis that you ride side by side in pairs. And to get onto the ride, step onto the seat as if you were getting on a jet ski riding out to sea.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    Best time to visit?

Sea World is a great place to visit all year round but to really benefit from the water attractions and aquatic playgrounds summer is the best time to visit. EXPERIENCE OZ SEA WORLD RECOMMENDATIONS

Sea World is a theme park that is designed to educate and entertain visitors about marine life and conservation through educational talks, presentations and exhibits within the park.

For many, Sea World is the only opportunity to witness these creatures that ordinarily live in remote, secluded parts of the ocean. Animals such as Polar Bears, Dolphins, Penguins, Sharks and Seals are the real stars of the show here as they interact with their trainers in an effort to educate people about the ecosystems, behaviours and conservation efforts to care for marine life.

Even the entertaining shows and rides within the park are themed around animals of the sea. Sea World’s main draw is not it’s thrill rides, however, credit should be given to the rides that are here that pull several G’s and reach speeds up to 70 km/hr.

BEST THRILL RIDE: The Storm Coaster

The Storm Coaster is technically a thrill ride but you will still find many children in the queue waiting to get on this exciting amusement ride. The Storm Coaster is part water ride, part roller coaster.

    Arrive Early

The gates open at 9.30am and rides will commence at 10am. Plan your day the evening before and hit the ground running the next day so you know what animal exhibits you want to see and plan around the show times.

    Rainy Day

Don't let the rain put you off visiting Sea World as there are a number of indoor animal exhibits and shows that will keep you dry and out of the rain. Just bring an umbrella or raincoat for when you need to walk in between the exhibits. If the skies turn grey, Sea World is one of the best theme parks to visit.
