What you can expect

A combination of two lakes; North Mavora and South Mavora, Mavora Lakes Park is a naturally beautiful destination in the South Island. Part of the Te Wahipounamu/South West New Zealand World Heritage Area, Mavora Lakes is a popular destination for campers and explorers. With a flourishing eco system a selection of scenery can be found here from mountains to forest and grassland, movie buffs may recognise the scenery from the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. In addition to the natural beauty to admire, there is plenty to do at Mavora Lakes Park. Come the warmer, summer months the camping area is filled with anglers, boats, four-wheel drives, hunters, horses, cyclists and hikers. The Mavora to Greenstone Walkway is a popular multi-day tramping trail in the area stretching along 50 kilometres from the camping area and joining up with the Greenstone track.
