Highlights

  • Today you’re up early to get started on a day that you’ll long remember. Travelling on one of the longest roads in Australia, the Stuart Highway, you’ll see some of the most amazing terrain this country has to offer. When we turn onto the Arnhem Highway, the Marrakai Plains will provide a beautiful backdrop for your onward journey
  • Covering an area of more than 19,800 square kilometres, World Heritage listed Kakadu is the largest National Park in Australia. The combination of mangrove fringed coastal areas, expansive flood plains, lowland hills, open woodland and forest habitats make Kakadu one of the most diverse landscapes you’ll ever experience. Be amazed at the population of wildlife in the water, on the land and in the air – Kakadu is home to a myriad of animals, hundreds of bird species and thousands of different insects and plants. Marvel at the concentration of rock art sites that illustrates Aboriginal culture found at Kakadu, some dating back 50,000 years
  • Join your local guide for a cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong. The picturesque yellow waters are home to thousands of saltwater crocodiles and up to 60 species of colourful birdlife
  • The Bininj people are the traditional custodians of Kakadu National Park and after lunch in Cooinda we visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre to introduce you to their way of life
  • Be mesmerised as you wander the Nourlangie rock art site. It has provided shelter to the indigenous people for many thousands of years – and while taking shelter, the rock evolved into a canvas that illustrates their very deep spiritual culture. The 1.5km walk around the base of the rock, led by your Driver Guide, will give you the opportunity to see many different forms of Aboriginal rock art paintings

This is a long day but worth it if you are interested in nature

This is a long day but worth it if you are interested in nature, wildlife and aboriginal art. It's a long drive to the park. The driver/guide was extremely knowledgeable and knew a lot about the area and the history. Highly recommend that you take lots of water with you especially if you are visiting in the dry season. There are plenty of stops a long the way. The included buffet lunch was good and you could pay for drinks at the bar if you wanted something stronger!

The cruise was very informative and interesting especially with having a local guide who had grown up in country and shared a lot of the culture with us

The cruise was very informative and interesting especially with having a local guide who had grown up in country and shared a lot of the culture with us. Nourlangie rock is also a highlight and Dale was helpful in both telling the stories and answering questions. It is a very long day however - I think if I did it again I'd do the two day trip as so much time is spent sitting in a bus rather than being off it. Something that can't be helped in terms of the distance travelled. Also pick up was 20mins later than time I was given

Excellent tour guide - funny

Excellent tour guide - funny, witty and knowledgeable! The trip to the Warradjan Cultural Centre at Cooinda, the Yellow River cruise and finally to the Nourlangie Rock was just amazing! The lunch was sumptuous and aplenty. There is nothing to fault here except the weather. We did the tour mid March and, of course, it is still the wet season. And we did get wet! Nevertheless it was a very worthwhile tour!

Thought the tour was great

Thought the tour was great, our tour guide Rod was excellent. Kept a watchful eye over the elderly & was full,of great information. If I had a group it would be that when telling us about Kakadu Air he said every seat had a window....not so, the one I got had half a window & I had to twist my body & my neck to take my photos. I could only keep this up for about 20 minutes & then I just turned back, faced front & fumed at how little value I got for my $250. PS all the other seats were fine with window views. I don't think they should put passengers in the seat I was in!
