What you can expect

Providing visitors with some of the best views of Auckland, climbing Mount Eden is an adventure not to be missed. With sweeping 360 degree views of Auckland Mount Eden - or Maungawhau in Maori - is the highest natural point in all of Auckland and is just one of the 48 volcanic cones in the region. Reaching a height of 196 metres you can walk or ride up the summit, however vehicles are no longer permitted to travel up to the top. The area is rich in Maori history and you can take a guided walking tour led by a member of the Ngati Whatua tribe who are the guardians of the mountain. You can visit any time of the day for incredible views however visiting at sunrise, sunset and in the evening will give you incredible views and photographs.
