What you can expect

You can walk, run, or if you are up for the challenge, ride up Mount Stuart to experience the panoramic views it has to offer. Despite it being only a short trail, usually only taking ten minutes in total, it isn’t an easy one. With steep sets of inclines to challenge all, hikers are warned to take care, as there are no safety barriers on the trail. Overlooking Townsville’s Lavarack Barracks, the winding Ross River and Magnetic Island, this 584 metre-high peak makes Castle Hill look like an anthill in the distance. Wild peacocks stroll around the area and are accustomed to visitors, making for a great photo against the lovely scenic backdrop. If you don’t feel like burning all your energy on the hike, you can also drive up to the top.
