Noosa Beach

What you can expect

While the Sunshine Coast is home to numerous great beaches, Noosa Main Beach stands out as one of its best; this picture-perfect example of quality beachfront is a wonderful example of both nature at its finest and city planning done right. The blend of pristine sand, clean water and swimming-friendly waves combines with its well-patrolled nature to make for an entirely family-friendly beachfront area with plenty of convenient facilities nearby, while its north-facing aspect provides outstanding sheltered conditions when compared to many of its more exposed neighbours. A lack of built-up highrises on the waterfront also leads to an open, sunny feeling that never leaves the beach feeling hemmed in; it's moderately commercialised but not unnecessarily so. Surfing is also viable for enthusiasts, with some quality gentle breaks around the Noosa Park Headland, while fishermen will also be in their element here; it's a viable fishing beach from the shore where hauls of flathead, bream, dart and whiting are all possible with a little patience. Exploring the area surrounding the beach is likewise a pleasant exercise via Noosa Beach's excellent boardwalk that follows a winding route along the waterfront and its adjacent national park. Add in an array of quality restaurants nearby that offer true Sunshine Coast "dining with a view", and you've got an all-purpose beach that ticks all the boxes as far as seaside enjoyment are concerned.
