A popular spot for keen anglers to get their line wet, fishing is a popular pastime for both locals trying to catch a fresh dinner and visitors looking to try their hand. Before the resorts, restaurants and spas turned up in Palm Cove, the area was known for fishing. The waters just off Palm Coven are a popular hang out for migrating fish who seem to be always keen for a nibble. School Mackerel are common catches in the region as well as Barramundi, Giant Trevally and Queenfish. Some of the smaller catches include whiting, stripeys and yellowtail to name a few.
