What you can expect

Boasting impeccable scenery, active wildlife and enjoyable activities, Coorong National Park has something to suit the needs of most travellers. In close proximity to Adelaide, this park is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike looking to spend the day or a few days in the camp grounds. Summer and Autumn are the best seasons to visit this beautiful National Park as the days are warm and dry, making for the perfect beach and camping getaways. Some of the popular activities in the area include kayaking, fishing, hiking, four-wheel driving and bird watching. Part of the sandy beach is brimming with marine life and calm waters thanks to the offshore reefs which stretch along 20 kilometres of the beach, but if you travel further along you will see the waves increase in size before you reach the end of the beach at Murray Mouth. Swimming off the shore is popular during the warmer months, however beach dwellers are urged to take care as large rips can sometimes run through the waters.
