Behind The Experience KJet Queenstown

Our ‘Behind the Experience’ series takes us across the ditch to Queenstown this week. Known famously as New Zealand’s adventure capital, we thought we’d take you behind the scenes of one of Queenstown’s must-do activities - a jet boat tour.

Robyn Columbus Pester, Digital Marketing Manager from KJet Queenstown gives us the inside scoop on what you can expect on a thrilling jet boat tour with KJet Queenstown as well as some of her favourite hidden gems in Queenstown.

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and what you love most about your job?

I’ve lived in Queenstown since 2013 and been with KJet since 2018. I love working in tourism and find it awesome that I can combine that with my other passion which is digital marketing, media and comms! I think it’s the people in the industry that make it fun, from guests on our experience through to industry colleagues.

2. What can visitors expect when they join a tour with KJet Queenstown?

KJet has been around since the early days of adventure tourism in Queenstown – we’re the only jet boat that travels across three waterways, Lake Wakatipu, and the world-famous Shotover and Kawarau Rivers!

Our trips last for 60 minutes (which is great bang for your buck) and they’re a good balance of adrenaline, thrills, and stunning scenery. Our drivers are pretty cool too – they share a lot about the history of the region, the rivers and how a jet boat works.

3. When you aren’t busy welcoming visitors onto KJet tours, what is your favourite place to holiday in Australia or New Zealand and why?

In New Zealand it’s got to be Stewart Island – it’s a pretty special place. In Australia, I would say Sydney, I love the big city and the beaches.

4. What is your favourite hidden gem in Queenstown?

Macetown is a pretty cool historic spot – it gives you insight into what life was like during the gold mining era. It’s accessed by 4WD, mountain bike or on foot only and there are over 20 rivers crossing you have to make to get in there.
