Waterfall Gully

What you can expect

Located in Cleland Conservation Park to the east of Adelaide, Waterfall Gully is a lovely slice of South Australian nature that derives its name from its most obvious feature - First Falls, a prominent waterfall at the south-eastern end. Home to several walking trails and tracks just a short drive from the Adelaide CBD, the natural surrounds here make for a lovely backdrop for a stroll; choose a track of an appropriate difficulty level, immerse yourself in nature and keep your eyes peeled for the chance to see koalas and other wildlife along the way. The beautiful bushland of the Adelaide Hills combines with an easy walk from the Waterfall Gully carpark to the falls to make for a relaxed and easygoing path to explore; those wanting a physical challenge or a dose of exercise can instead choose to make the walk all the way up to Mount Lofty Summit instead. An essential item on the to-do list while here is a stop for refreshments or a meal at the excellent Utopia restaurant nestled at the base of the waterfall; constructed in traditional Swiss chalet style, it's a beautiful building in its own right, and a venue that does some outstanding food as well. It's reasonably priced for the quality and comes with good selection on the menus, and its location is the cherry on top. If visiting Waterfall Gully, try to time your visit to coincide with recent rainfall in order to see the fall at its most impressive!
