Itinerary
  • __Day 1: Cradle Mountain World Heritage Area__ Cradle Mountain’s jagged silhouette is unmistakable. Standing 1545 metres above sea level amongst glacial lakes, alpine moorland and World Heritage Listed wilderness, this iconic mountain is pure untamed Tassie. On this full day tour, you’ll score front row seats. After leaving Launceston we stop in the quirky town of Sheffield, the town of murals, a unique open air art gallery. From there we head into the mountains along winding roads fringed by rainforest to arrive at Cradle Mountain National Park. We begin our adventures with an easy guided walk to the stunning Pencil Pine Falls. A great introduction to the National Park. After that it’s onto our main walk of the day, Dove Lake Circuit, an easy 6km circumnavigation of the stunning lake that sits at the bottom of Cradle Mountain. The views are epic. If you’re up for a challenge, tackle the hike to Marion’s Lookout. An uphill climb rewards you with breathtaking views of Cradle Mountain, Little Horn, Smithies Peak and so many mirrored lakes. Our last stop is Van Diemen’s Ice Creamery and Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm for well-earned treats crafted from the finest Tasmanian dairy and produce. A sweet end to a heavenly day. __Day 2: Launceston to Hobart via Wineglass Bay & Freycinet National Park__ After leaving Launceston, we enjoy a short stop at the Georgian township of Campbell Town for supplies and convict relics. From there we head east, greeted by a spectacular view of The Hazards as we enter Freycinet National Park. A short-but-sensational 20 minute walk along the Cape Tourville Lighthouse circuit reveals 360 degree views before we hike to the Wineglass Bay lookout as a group. This 45 minute ascent gets the heart pumping before revealing one of the best vistas in the Southern Hemisphere. Gaze out over treetops to a sweeping vista of white sand and turquoise water, soaking in the beauty of Wineglass Bay. Depending on how active you’re feeling, you can extend your hike down to the beach for swimming, relaxing and dolphin spotting or return from the lookout with your guide to check out Honeymoon Bay. The afternoon brings us to Devil’s Corner winery, perched high on a hill overlooking Freycinet. It’s the ideal place to kick back with a glass of wine, fresh seafood platter, woodfired pizza, tea, coffee or artisan gelato before ending our day in Hobart. __Day 3: Port Arthur & Tasmanian Devils__ Travel with us from Hobart to the Tasman Peninsula, where the might of the Southern Ocean has carved spectacular caves and arches into solid rock. Meet Tassie’s coastline at its rugged finest. It’ll take your breath away. Spend the morning walking along 300-metre-high clifftops, pausing at majestic lookouts to watch giant waves crash against dolerite spires. Visit Pirates Bay, Waterfall Bay, Tasman Arch and the famous Devil’s Kitchen, ticking all the best views off the list. The Tasmanian Devil Unzoo is up next. Tasmanian Devils are carnivorous marsupials that can only be found in Tasmania. They look like a small bear and are just as feisty, with one of the most powerful bites in the animal kingdom. You’ll get up close and personal with these iconic critters in a snarling feeding frenzy! You can also feed wallabies by hand, attend a Birds of the Bush presentation, and learn about local wildlife from the Unzoo’s passionate staff. Next stop is Port Arthur Historic Site, where impeccably preserved ruins offer a chilling glimpse of life as a Tasmanian convict. You will have around 2 hours exploring this World Heritage open air museum, including a complimentary harbour cruise around the Isle of the Dead and fascinating site talks. Our last stop is the unmissable Richmond, a historic village filled with quaint stone buildings, ye olde lolly shops and Australia’s oldest bridge! This sandstone beauty was built by convicts and is thought to be haunted. You be the judge. A devilishly good day out.
