HELI HIKE
The excitement of walking on one of New Zealand's most famous glaciers - the Franz Josef Glacier - combines with a scenic and thrilling helicopter flight to provide the ultimate alpine experience! You'll be flown in and able to access and explore a part of this famous ice formation that is brimming with a variety of spectacular ice caves and arches. Fly over the pinnacles of the lower icefall where the ice is in constant motion then circle the upper icefall before the helicopter lands in a remote and exceptionally beautiful part of the glacier.
You'll be outfitted with specially designed equipment to deal with ice conditions and follow steps that are cut out as you explore the amazing formations and caves which can only be found in this most unique of New Zealand landscapes. Combine an awesome helicopter flight over the Franz Josef Glacier with a unique guided walk amongst the ice caves, pinnacles, and seracs of this pristine alpine environment.
Duration & Times
This is a 3hour trip with 2 hours of that being hiking.
Summer (Oct - Apr) operates trips at 9.30am, 12noon and 2.30pm.
Winter (May-Sep) operates trips at 11am & 1.30pm.
Transfers
A courtesy coach is available at all locations for transfers to and from central locations.

Flight times are approximate and include your landing.
Minimum passenger numbers apply for flights. Bookings will be coordinated to achieve this where possible
