The Great Barrier Reef converges towards the mainland off Port Douglas, so getting to it, and nearby Low Isles, is easy and fast aboard a variety of ferries and yachts, a sprint boat, or by helicopter. A Chinese junk takes a more leisurely cruise, ideal for the romantic at heart.

Most tour companies provide expert reef commentaries while travelling to perfect snorkelling and Scuba diving sites. They provide all necessary equipment, and instruction, enabling you to view some of the 400 colourful coral types, and the moving vista of some of its 6,600 species of flora and fauna.
