Nourished by high rainfall, the Noosa River is the cleanest river in Sth East Qld. With over half of its catchment protected in National Park, the Noosa River is a wonderful place to cruise and fish. The waters throughout the Noosa River system are clean, and carry very little sediment. In places, the water is stained a rich, deep brown from the tannins and organic nutrients that leach out of the melaleuca wetlands.

The creeks and riverbanks with their riparian vegetation are mostly intact and the marine life is abundant, which provids for excellent fishing and crabbing.
