Transport and Getting Around the Gold Coast

Getting Around the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is well developed and its areas are well connected, making getting around simple. Depending on the distance, travel by foot, bike, bus, taxi or car here.

Air

The Gold Coast International Airport, located in Coolangatta, makes for convenient air travel. While it is easy to find a taxi, you may seek help from the transportation and information desk located outside the international arrivals terminal.

Walking and Cycling

As the developed areas of the Gold Coast are densely built, it is easy to walk and cycle. Further, there is over 600 kilometres of bike paths that connect neighbourhoods and link to major transit routes.

Buses

Getting around the Gold Coast via bus can sometimes be a chore - we recommend allowing sufficient time for delays. Through the large public transit operator, TransLink, and a local bus operator, Surfside Buslines, buses run from the south to the north of the Gold Coast, as well as to outside areas. These operators also offer NightLink, an after-midnight bus service to ensure affordable and safe transportation late at night.

There are also bus services for theme park transfers. For more information, click here.

Taxi

Hail a cab with its lights on where possible or book one in advance.

Water Taxis

Discover the waterways on the Gold Coast and visit Stradbroke Island using the region’s ferry and water taxi operators.

Car Rental

Rent a car and tour the Gold Coast using the most flexible transportation option.
