Darwin is the smallest (in terms of population) and Northernmost of Australia's capital cities. Despite its relative isolation from most other populated and developed urban areas, Darwin has seen significant development over the years, going from a small pioneer outpost and port into one of Australia's most modern and multicultural cities. The city is built on a hill that overlooks its harbour, and its suburbs are spread out over a fairly wide geographical area that stretches from Lee Point in the North and across to Berrimah in the East. Darwin has an International Airport that is located to the North-East of the CBD, and the city itself is surrounded by various nature and national parks that add a sense of greenery to the Northern Territory's capital.
