Gold Coast Hinterland 4WD Tour Review
A review based on firsthand experiences - by Michelle Woodroff.
This Gold Coast hinterland 4WD private charter tour was one of the best tours I have ever done. Myself and 5 of my friends set off at 8.30am in the absolutely pouring rain. The weather was absolutely terrible but before we even had a chance to complain, our tour guide Royd, turned up in the 4wd opening with umbrellas to get us to the vehicle. To top it off, when we hopped in, we were welcomed to the most comfiest seats I have ever sat in. They were so warm and snug and super comfy. We set off and made our way up the hinterland and was then greeted with our first 4WD track. It was so much fun going through the 4WD up Tamborine mountain and being surrounded by complete and utter wilderness!!
Once we reached the top of Mount Tamborine, we had our first stop at this quaint little cafe where we were greeted with coffees and freshly baked scones with jam and cream. They were the best scones I have ever had hand it was a really nice touch to get greeted with this. The great thing about this tour is that because it is an private charter for 6 people, the day is basically yours to go where and when you want which was great as it provided us flexibility. Included in this private charter were three different wineries. After the first cafe stop, we made our way across the road to the Heritage Winery where we tried 4 different wines and also two different liqueurs. The moonshine liqueur is the best!!!
After that, we decided to visit the famous cheese factory and brewery where we got a tasting of 6 different german beers and tried plenty of cheeses and spreads. From there we went to our next winery where we sampled more wines and also some olive oil. Now we were starting to get a bit tipsy. From here we made our way to a pub of choice and had some stew which was a perfect meal for the cold rain that was outside around us. This was really nice and Royd stayed with us and joined in which was great. Next was our last and final top, the O'reillys Vineyard. This was absolutely beautiful and the wines there were also very lovely.
We had the best day and absolutely loved the vehicle, our guide and the entire experience. It was so worth the money and I found doing the Private Charter really suit me and my friends. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone wishing to visit the hinterland and some wineries.
