As can be expected, due to its location smack-bang in the centre of Australia's outback, there is very little to be found around Ayers Rock itself. It boasts a tiny airport North-East that can accommodate only light aircraft, and the nearest settlement is the tiny traditional Aboriginal town of Mutitjulu located within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. To the South West of the monolith you can visit the popular Kata-Tjuta Cultural Centre where many hand-crafted souvenirs.
